You can't tell in the picture, but one of his ears are torn and he has a very runny nose. Also, his lip hangs on one side. This is because he's missing a tooth. The beans took him to the vet this morning. He got an exam, full blood work, flea treatment, deworming treatment, claw clipping and an antibiotic shot. I overheard the beans say we should name him Money Pit.
The vet thinks he's 7 to 10 years old based on his teeth. Also, he's neutered.
He has to be seperated from Simba and me for at least two weeks because he could get us sick with his respiratory infection. Since we live in an apartment, this means he has to live in the laundry room. Mama worries that he won't be happy in there. He did get a new bed and toy though.
Mama says he's very sweet. He doesn't really meow much unless he's lonely. Then he cries loudly. Mama doesn't know if there's much hope in placing him in a good home, and Daddy is already attached to him. Mama is worried about introducing us to him. She's afraid the fur is going to fly.
I can't believe I'm going to have to live with two boy cats!
Oh Lucy, what an amazing turn of events. First of all many thanks to your daddy for helping that poor cat. And Money Pit is a sweet name. ; )
ReplyDeleteYour mom is probably right about the fur going to fly when introducing him to you two. They should do loads of research first and don't rush things. But we know they won't. Check out the comments on the post when Chilli came to live with us, there's some good advice: http://catwithagarden.blogspot.com/2008/11/grrrrrrr.html
Our mom just let us together immediately, but that was because we were both very young. It was a hard time though for about a week! Keep us updated.
All the best, Siena
How very lucky Mr Money Pit is that your Papa found him and took him to the vet. Your Mama and Papa are goodhearted people to take a sick and wandering sole into their home.
ReplyDeleteThe more the merrier, Lucy :)
We just biggiefied the pics and saw what a rough life he must have had. He's such a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteOh Lucy, it's so nice that your mom and dad took this sweet fellow in! You might be surprised and make friends with him!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a kind Mom and Dad you have.
When my feline sister Molly came to live with us, my feline sister Lilly did not like it one bit. After a few 'arguments' between the two of them they seemed to settle their differences and now they are the best of buddies.
I hope it all works out for you.
Luv, Lucy (Woof!)
I think he looks VERY happy in your laundry room. He sure didn't have a nice bed and toy out by that old train. He looks very comfy and happy.
ReplyDeleteWe thinks he looks right at home in your laundry room!!! That is super sweet of your beans to help this little guy out! AND, he is furry handsome!!! We thinks you'll all get along eventually!!! And, we think the name MoneyPit is GRRR-8!!!
ReplyDeleteSecret mom to mom communication: I knew the comments would give you good ideas. If I were to do it again it would introduce slower than I did. I'm glad it worked, but it could have been less stressful. For all of us! I have never used the Feliway diffusers but a lot of bloggers swear by them. They are a bit pricey, but hey, if they work that's worth it. Again, paws, eh, I mean fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteWelcoming a new friend at home is not easy , especially for cats. This poor one maybe never knew someone kind, maybe he had to fight all his life long; And it's difficult for him to understand what to have a home means.. Be patient, give him time, learn to know him, let him know you, and consider the love your parents are able to give as a treasure and a blessing to share with him..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations dear Lucy, a new brother!
ReplyDeleteNow you have two brothers, it's wonderful sweetie!
Mammy Vicki know well how to deal with the new sweet cat. Don't worry dear Lucy, everything will be okay!
Dad and mommy have a beautiful and blessed heart!
God bless you all
Oh Lucy, that's so nice of your mom & dad to take in Money Pit. He looks like he's had a run of hard luck and can really use some love. Take things slow and you'll have a friend before you know it. Maybe you can just call him Money for short.
ReplyDeleteLucy, Money Pit looks like a very lucky boy! He looks really nice. You know if you take it slow, the fur will fly but only a wee little bit. He looks worth it! I love ginger boys!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very wonderful daddy.
Thanks to your mama and papa for sharing your home with Money Pit! And I am already loving his colors.
ReplyDeleteI will come back tonight to check out the photos..still at work. See you later!
Bless your mama and papa for taking him in. Money Pit is such a perfect name. It is so sad that he was alone, and no one to care for him. I hope that all of you will become friends. It will take time but it will happen.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how he must feel, a new bed, a new toy, regular feeding, he must think he has died and gone to heaven.
Iris

Oh Lucy how wonderful your parents are to have taken in this poor little fellow. Your dad was in the right place at the right time. I am sure it will take time for all of you to adjust but I bet you will be a great big sister to him! I am so pleased to see that he got a nice bed and mouse as well.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that your parents have taken in this poor homeless kitty. It sounds like he was having a rough time on his own. I'm sure in time you will learn to love him a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love his eyes, and I could see a little tear on his ears. Be well, you are safe with a loving family.
ReplyDeleteThat's absolutely wonderful that you took care of this poor old cat. I wonder what happened to him as apparently he is not a wild cat and even neutred. Maybe he run away one day and couldn't find his way back. If you keep him they wil find a way to cope together, it will last a little while, but then he will be part of the group.
