A Fond Farewell...Until We Meet Again

Hi friends. Mama has been very busy the last few days with work and preparing for their trip.  This will be my last post until they return in mid December.  We will miss you all so much.  Please don't forget about us!

We wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Take me with you.

Hee hee, I think the sticker should read "light weight".  This sticker was on Simba's head all day.

Show-n-Tell Thursday

I wanted to show my tummy today. It's furry, it's soft, it's apricot colored and there's plenty to go around (Mama put that last one in there).

Sunny Day

Hi.  You caught me doing my favorite thing: sitting in the sun on our patio.  Whenever there is a sunny morning, Mama makes sure I don't miss it.

Happy Tuesday! xxoo

Weekend Follow-Up

Mama really appreciated all your comments about me allowing Bucky to have my tail draped on him. Well, the following evening, he batted at my tail and I hissed and smacked him. Mama told me that he was just playing and that, as usual, I overreacted. My motto is hiss and smack first, ask questions later.

This weekend was rather uneventful except for when Mama almost set fire to our apartment.  She put together some corn bread for her and Papa for an early dinner on Saturday.  Once the oven was preheated, the whole place was smokey.  It turns out there was a piece of paper in the oven that completely burned. Our whole home was smoke filled.  After a few hours of every window being open, all is well and smoke free. Crazy mama.

Weekend Tidbits

I have a new bed. Mama thinks that I don’t know that it was Bucky’s. She put my blankie on it and then put me on it. I meowed at her in a pesky way, but haven’t got out of it since. Bucky hasn’t used his bed since he was let out of the laundry room. He prefers the couch or recliner. With my blankie, the bed smells nice, not like him.

It’s been stormy here, so it looks like mama and papa won’t be going anywhere this weekend. I heard them talking about going to the movies, but I say they should watch a movie at home. That way, Mama can be at my *beck and call even though I sleep all day. You never know when I may need something.

You can see part of a suitcase in this picture. Mama is already starting to prepare for their trip. They’re leaving in less than two weeks. She thinks I don’t know. She had the pet sitter over yesterday. I was hoping that she wouldn’t get a pet sitter, they would stay home and Bucky would leave. I know. You think I’m mean. To show you I’m not all bad, check out the below picture. I’m slowing building up my tolerance for him like I have for Simba.

Bucky doing an Elvis impersonation:

Hunka hunka burnin' love

*I looked up beck and call. It means to be entirely subservient to someone; to be responsive to their slightest request. I say all cat servants (i.e. humans) need to incorporate this phrase into their vocabularies!

Lucy

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

This is my favorite sleeping position.

If you need me, I'll be napping.

Bucky

Sweet man

Thank you for all your kind words and purrs and hopes yesterday for Bucky's vet visit. I did take him to the vet yesterday for a recheck.  Sadly, his kidney numbers are still bad.  To quote the vet, he should be dead, or at least very sick.  To give you an idea, his creatinine is 6.1.  The max in the normal range is 2.4.  His BUN is 60.  The max in the normal range is 36.  She said his kidneys have irreparable damage, but the fluids sustain him.  He eats, plays and seems to feel fine.  He weighed 11.25 pounds three weeks ago.  He now weighs 12.  Since I have a tendency to make good cats get fat, I need to be careful. You've all seen the pictures of Lucy.

Lucy and Simba still do not get along with him very well.  Bucky wants to play with them, but they take his playful gestures as threatening.  They respond by hissing, growling and hiding.

Bucky hoping a kitty will come by and want to play.

We are leaving at the end of the month for a two-week vacation.  I am trying to find a cat sitter who can give Bucky his fluids, make sure each cat eats (Bucky takes Lucy's food and Lucy takes Simba's food) and make sure they all survive.

I wish you all a happy weekend!

Happy Friday!

Today is Friday, and Mama and I are both happy!

Later this morning Bucky goes back to the vet.  We are hoping that his kidney, anemia and white blood cell numbers are much better.  We will let you know.

Mama has been extra busy this week, so I haven't had much attention from her.  I'm going to send her a subliminal message to bake some chicken.  That will be a good start on making it up to me.

I wish you all a relaxing and fun weekend!

Hugs and kisses,
Lucy

Hugs?

I like hugs to some extent, just so they're not over the top. Since Mama works from home, she often hugs and kisses me during the day while I'm taking my naps.  In the evenings, I wait for her to come in the room to play with me. However, I don't always play. Sometimes I just watch the toy and then walk out on both her and the toy to eat some foodies in the kitchen. Other times, after playing, I climb in her lap for a few minutes while she sits on the floor with me. Whatever my mood may be, I wait every night for her to come in and give me some kind of attention. If she works really late, I'll go out to her and let her know I'm waiting. Back to the original subject of hugs: do you like them or are you more reserved or do you prefer other means of affection?

p.s. I received many compliments on my new blog banner.  Thank you. Luna's mommy from We Love Luna, Leia, made that for me.  They are wonderful, sweet friends.

Honest Scrap Award

I received an award from Iris, Peanut's mom, over at Boo-Bah's Little Sunshines.  To receive this award I must tell at least 10 honest things about myself and pass the award on to a minimum of seven other blogger friends so they can have the honor of telling 10 honest things about themselves. This is a way of getting to know our friends a little better.  Since you know a lot about me, I'm going to let the Mama answer the questions.

I know that some don’t like doing awards, but at the same time I enjoy all your blogs, so I’m leaving it open because I think you all really do deserve it.  Please just grab this award and start dishing.

Although I really enjoy reading about others, it’s so hard for me to imagine that this would be of any interest to anyone. Nevertheless, here I go:

Ten Honest Things about Me:

1. I turn 44 in a few weeks. I love birthdays now almost as much as I loved them as a kid. I love gifts, cake and the celebration.

2. My favorite drink is diet Dr. Pepper.

3. I love to read mysteries.

4.I ’m a homebody, but I also enjoy traveling.

5. I love to bake, but I don’t really enjoy cooking. I cook most nights though. I think my hubby James would love it if we ate out most nights.

6. I’m a Christian.

7. My husband is my best friend. I enjoy going on drives and outings with him on the weekends.

8. I have a full time job with a big corporation. I work from home most days. I go into an office about once or twice a month.

9. I love old movies, mainly from the 40’s and 50’s. There aren’t many new movies that I like.

10. I am blessed. I'm blessed because of my faith, my hubby and my kitties. :)

The Whole Gang Is at the Lounge Today

Bucky

He looks a little funny, but he looks like this quite often. It's because he's missing his teeth on one side of his mouth.
