Dear Lucy, Thank you for posting that famous photo. It's a very special one to me. My dad was a Marine and he fought on Iwo Jima. He had been injured and was on a hospital ship just off the shore when that flag went up.
...There's a wonderful book called Flags of our Fathers written by the son of one of the men in the photo. It's beautifully written. I highly recommend it.
