Annie in a Drawer

Last month,  Annie hopped into this dresser drawer, which was a first. I snapped the picture with my phone which accounts for the worse-than-usual picture quality.

We've had Annie for about a year and a half now. It's taken about a year for her to stop going under the bed all the time and she's even recently stopped, for the most part, going in her "office" (the storage closet). I'm happy to see how much more comfortable she is with us and her home. At one time I despaired of her ever feeling at ease.

I miss Lucy so.

  1. Awww, Annie looks so sweet in there. It's wonderful she feels much safer now.

Sending (((hugs))) and purrs. We know you miss Lucy. We also know you'll never NOT miss her. Time will ease the sharpness of the grief, but certainly won't "heal", in our opinion.

    Peace.

  2. Thinking of you. Lucy will always be a part of you. I find it helps so much to have other kitties to keep going after a loss. They will heal the hole in your heart.

  4. We had the same problem with Chestnut, who spent a long time under a cupboard before beginning to trust us. Now , one of his favorite places is the basket for linen that 's waiting for ironing!
We all miss Lucy .. <3

  10. ((hugs)) for your sadness over missing Lucy.
We totally understand and it will take a very very long time to ease those sad feelings.
Annie is so cute in the drawer and maybe she will be drawn out of her shell now.

  11. Annie is very sweet. We're glad she has become more comfortable...it does take time. Even after 5 years living here, Zoey still will run and hide.

We send you comforting purrs...we know how hard it is losing a furbaby...'specially one as special as Lucy.

  12. Annie is one of my special girls, and I am so glad to hear she is adjusting. My Mica Moo is still adjusting, and I will have had her 3 years this July. Sometimes they take a while (ha, ha, what an understatement!). I just keep hoping one day MMM will be "just like a real cat". I hope Annie will too. I know how you miss Lucy, sadly, you probably always will. There's lots of kitties purring for you all here!

  13. We love this picture of Annie in the drawer!
We miss Lucy too. Somehow Lucy reminds our human of our late Cinders. Perhaps it's the fur colour and pattern.
Purrs and headbutts from all of us.

  15. It is funny how some cats just adjust to people and some do not. Kovu, who has only ever been with us (he turned 7 last week!) is timid and hides from strangers. Can't blame that on some unknown past! Our new guy, Jack, he is in the middle of everything, family, friends, strangers! He is right there checking stuff out!

Annie is lucky to have you!
