Friendly Fill-Ins

It's Friendly Fill-Ins time! As our lovely hosts put it, this is all about learning about each other and making friends. Speaking of our lovely hosts, they are 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

Sorry about the big guy's shoes. This is my favorite spot in front of the window. I hang out here most of the day. This makes the lady happy because her work station is just a few feet away.

1. My next day off will be Monday! I'm looking forward to a four-day weekend!

2. Fireworks are worrisome. I worry about animals and houses. The big fireworks shows are fine. We used to go every year, but we don't go very often anymore.

3. This week, I am thankful that we purchased a new washer (ours broke two weeks ago) and that we are able to purchase a new one.

4. Freedom is a precious gift and blessing.

Thankful Thursday

We won The Island Cats' BlogPaws Swag Giveaway! We are all in awe of how many things we received. Pierrot is trying to take it all in.

There are treats, toys, food samples, probiotics, catnip and more!

Pierrot spotted (smelled?) the nip nanner and went for that first.

We put our friends' card and magnet on our fridge. To the right is the card they sent. Isn't it cute?

Looks like the lady is going to have to share the tote bag with Pierrot.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Today we are joining the Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop. It's all about learning about each other and making friends! Thank you to our hosts, 15andmeowing and McGuffy's Reader.

1. A recurring dream I have is for more homeless animals to get loving forever homes. Since I can't really remember my sleeping dreams as of late, I went with this. It's so sad going into PetSmart this time of year and seeing all the kittens and young cats. However, there's always a need for good homes for animals of all ages and types.

2. Turn lemons into lemonade. It's corny I know, but looking for the silver lining or counting my blessings and being thankful really does change my mindset when things are tough or sad or worrisome.

3. Home repairs are driving me crazy! We've been in our place just three years and have had to replace just about every single thing-- even our balcony!  The latest is our washer. We'll be at the laundromat this weekend.

4. Lately, I have been a little homesick. Actually, I've been missing my parents and feeling nostalgic for bygone days.

International Box Day

The lady and Pierrot love International Box Day. I know most kitties love boxes, but I just happen to not be one of them. Nevertheless, every year I give it a try.

Pierrot loves to show off how good he looks in a box.

Real Hamsters Don't Bite

Real Hamsters Don't Bite by Alexis Cleoford is an imaginative and charming children's book featuring two feline brothers.

This story is written from the point of view of a kitty named Mighty.  I love his descriptions of his life experiences, whether he's talking about chasing sunlight or how he and his brother, Brennon, spend their days: "My life is almost purrfect." His insights seem distinctly feline: "Purring feels like blankets made of the fuzziest velvet."

At the beginning of the story he says to keep reading if we want to know how awesome cats are. Of course, most of us know this already but he does a great job of reinforcing that point. Mighty and Brennon set out on an adventure in their quest to find Cat Land, a perfect place for cats. Their trek encompasses all kinds of adventure and characters.

The end promises a new adventure for Mighty and Brennon.

Sunday Selfies

Hi! We're having a great weekend and we hope you are too. It's warm and sunny. Yesterday, I helped make the bed, spent time on the balcony, played a little and got a chicken jerky treat. Pierrot played a lot as well as enjoyed balcony time and got a treat.

Pierrot was having some fun with this toy.

1. A prop from a TV show or film I would like to own is something from I Love Lucy.  I struggled with coming up with an answer to this.  I decided that since I like vintage things and I Love Lucy, I'll say I'd like an item from I Love Lucy such as clothing, furniture or dishes.

2. My oldest friendship is the lady!  Annie

3. Whenever I sniff Annie, I always receive a growl as a response.  Pierrot

Thankful Thursday

I know we've been talking about our balcony lately and how much we enjoy it, but it really makes us happy. It took us a long time to feel comfortable being out, and I, Annie, still will not go out if the big guy or lady is out there.

Instead, the lady will sit just inside in order to watch over us, but that allows me the comfort to go out.

We're also thankful for the hosts of the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, Brian's Home.

Sunday Selfies

We decided to do our selfies in black and white. Pierrot has been spending the bulk of his time lately in the perch snoozing and enjoying the view.

Honestly, I'm happy here, just very relaxed. Very, very relaxed. I feel like I'm on a cloud.

Friendly Fill-Ins

1. A law I would like to see passed is no dumping/abandoning pets. Also, it would be great to see declawing outlawed in all states.

2. My favorite card game is Kings in the Corner or Gin Rummy. It's been a long time since I've played either of these. When I was young, I played these two with my grandmother. As a matter of fact, she taught them to me. My other grandmother taught me a few variations of Solitaire, which were fun.

3. With summer unofficially here, Annie and Pierrot are enjoying spending more time on our balcony.

4. A favorite summer memory is going to San Diego with my parents. I grew up in Southern California, so a trip to San Diego was less than two hours away, but we'd spend several days there going to the beach, renting sail boats, going to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. At home, I enjoyed going to the library and checking out lots of books, namely Nancy Drew.
