Liberated!

Pierrot and I are happy to be home safe and sound.  The lady and big guy returned from Miami Thursday evening, and fortunately, the vet where we were being boarded was opened late enough that we got to go home with them that night. We were well taken care of, but there's truly no place like home. Oh! I want to tell you something. When it came time for the workers to pack us up in our carriers to go home, the lady offered her help. They emphatically said absolutely not. Only employees are allowed back there. A few minutes later, they came out and asked the lady to get me. I held off two bossy humans with my growls! What they don't know is I never bite or scratch. Of course, they had to go on and on about how easy and sweet Pierrot was.

This is Annie's lady. I want to just add a short note. I've decided, at least for now, to not give Annie the pain medicine we wrote about in our last post. Since she's not in pain, I feel better not giving her medication. We watch her intently and keep a journal of her episodes. She periodically loses her balance and it seems like this is due to back leg weakness and stiffness, but she doesn't display any pain symptoms. This also does not in any serious way interfere with her activity or lifestyle.

  1. We are so happy you're home! And serious paws UP for holding off those silly hoomins. You definitely let them know who is boss. The pain meds... I have arthritis, and Mom tried to give me some pain meds too, once. Tramadol. But it made me feel and act awfully strange, so if you can hold off on that, probably a good idea. It's very unfortunate, but so far, we kittehs don't have anything that's the equivalent of Ibuprofen for hoomins. - Toby.

  2. Annie, you showed those workers! I agree with Toby, it's too bad that nobody's invented something like Ibuprophen for kitties.

  3. Welcome home, guys! We laughed about having to get your mom to load you into the PTU, Annie. :-)

As for pain meds, if you don't need them, definitely don't take them. We don't remember--do you take glucosamine? They have it for pets, or the human stuff (same thing) can be given in the appropriate dose. Or there could be some other supplement the vet might know about, not a pain killer. Purrs from the boys.

    1. She takes Cosequin, which I think is the same as glucosamine. It definitely helps. She had much more symptoms and more frequently before taking that.

  6. Glad the babies are home again where they are happy with mom and dad. And I agree, if they don't need it, don't make them take it. She's not showing pain you feel...and you are very tuned in to her.

  10. We are so glad that all of your home now, safe and sound and all together again!

We have been sending you lots of purrs and prayers, Annie. When Angel Rosie didn't respond to pain meds, we didn't give them anymore either. She did get her anti-inflammatory metacam, but no pain meds. It sure is wonderful to hear that you are otherwise doing well, though! And, as always, you both are adorable, Annie and Pierrot!

  12. You know what is best. Go with that. Pain meds are great, when absolutely needed, as a last resort. Sometimes they create problems, though. Chloe Jo has issues with pain meds. You are in our thoughts and prayers. xoxo

  13. You're a good actress, Annie. Let them think you're fierce, then you can have your way. We hope your leg isn't bothering you too much. We worry about you.

  14. You don't have to explain or justify why you're making a particular choice. Annie, we know that you weren't really growling at the people ... you were just telling them that Pierrot isn't sweet, right?!? A big sister knows! Bear doesn't usually growl at our vet staff - he's too frightened (NOT kidding) - I think he tries to play dead ... well, besides his howling of course.

  15. Annie, you go girl! I do the growls at men then hide behind the mom, BOL. But I have to try harder because nobody is afraid of me. Maybe you can teach me to be a better growler? You think that when men ignore me and I then start head bonking them for skritches that it has something to do with them not running in fear of me?
