My Girl

I wanted to let you all know that Lucy passed away Tuesday morning. We went above and beyond, doing everything for her we could and she was such a tough, good girl and went through so much. As you may know, she had bladder cancer, diagnosed in late January but the tumor probably started growing about a year ago. I love her so much and I told her that that will never stop although now I miss her greatly.
Taken 2/3/13
Thank you for being our friends and for caring about her. I regretted not being able to blog these past few months but between work and caring for her, I just had no time.

I have such an emptiness now. My best friend is gone. I'm thankful for the time I had with her, my faith, my hubby, Simba and Annie.

  2. I'm so sorry to read this. I always thought she looked like such a sweet cat. We live with a little brown tabby, too, Sierra. She is a darling cat. No words can help your broken heart at this time but soon your memories of her will have you smiling. She was a lucky cat to have a loving home and to reach such a dignified age. Time will heal and you will feel so blessed to have had her in your life. Sending good thoughts your way and a hug. Deb

  20. I'm so sorry. You absolutely did everything you could have done and my heart sank, reading your few recent posts, because it was obvious Lucy's time to cross was drawing close.

I know there aren't words to help you through the grief, but I, and so many others, understand. Be at peace, knowing you were the best human caretaker she ever could have had, and that she had a wonderful life with you.

She's free of any illness and suffering now, and that's a blessing, though the emptiness in your heart will remain for a long time.

  32. NO! no! no! no! no! no!!!!!! Lucy!! We are soooo sorry!! How could it be? We, but especially, Mom, are/is soooo sad. Lucy, we have known you for oh-so-long and you were pals with Lolo...so now you can finally meet Lolo nose-to-nose there in heaven over the bridge.

Mom here: I feel your pain. I truly, truly, TRULY feel your pain. I loved Lautrec/Lolo soooo much that even today I still cry thinking of him and he left us 14 months ago. His was a true and special love and I imagine you had that with Lucy. Some, well, most say it gets easier with time...I guess they are partly correct as SOME things get easier with time, but the empty space that they leave can never be filled, just a formerly vacant area will have to be filled so that the other empty space doesn't look so big. The kittens - now over a year old - try to fill that other space and are doing very well, but Lolo's space will always be his no matter who or what surrounds it. I believe and hope that one day we will find our beloved animal friends when we cross our own Rainbow Bridge. I'm sure Lucy will be there waiting for you to bring her a big pile of ham!!

Much love to you from Mom and lots of purrs and tailwags from us. WeezDaBadCats & DaMeenDawgs - a.k.a. Tiny, Ellwood, Ginger, Elioth and Chouchou.

  40. I am so sad to see Lucy has passed away. Everyone here is purring or praying for all Lucy's loved ones left behind. We wondered how she was doing, not having heard anything lately, and it feels like there is a hole in our hearts. Kitties are brave creatures who courageously deal with what life throws at them and I'm sure Lucy lived her last days with grace, but she suffers no more. I hope your sweet memories of her comfort you and help you get through this difficult time. You gave her the best gift anyone could give - your love. How she must have appreciated it! Purrs, and our deepest condolences, sweet friends.
