A Girl and Her Rat

Annie is so cute. You can't tell in pictures, but she's a tiny cat, not skinny, just small, much smaller than Lucy and Simba, with short little legs.  She's not cuddly at all. She'll lie down for a tummy rub or some petting for a few moments and then she nips.  It's so hard to have such a cute kitty that doesn't really want to be loved on and just nips.  She loves toys.  Actually, she's obsessed by the interactive toys.  I keep them in the closet. Every time I open the closet, she's right there hoping for play time.

  1. We had a foster that was short like that and she always made mom smile. It is hard to have the cute and not be able to love on them....

  2. She will warm up to you with age and time. We have had cats like that and they eventually became cuddly bugs!

  3. ADORABLE shots of Annie and her rat!

Especially love the third one down. I can actually feel the warmth of those beautiful sunrays. Cats always look so comfy when they sleep, don't they?

It's funny, because I had two cats at one time. One was a cuddlier, and the other not.

    Have a wonderful Sunday, Lucy!

  4. Annie does look like a compact cat. Hopefully she'll warm up to you in time and become a lapcat. All of my cats tolerate being cuddled but when they've had enough, they'll just push me away but no nipping. Thank goodness.

  6. Great photos of Annie and her rat! Yes, it would be hard not to be able to give her lots of scritches, but perhaps that will change with enough time.

  7. I too think she will stop nipping at some point. Don't forget, she has been through a lot. Just give her some time. The fact that she likes to play so much is great. Have a super Sunday.

  9. Salem is built like that! Annie is such a pretty girl, try some casual petting during the interactive play, she'll make some positive associations that way. Plus she can bite the toy, not you!

  10. Annie, you are being very nice to that rat! We don't think we'd be so nice.

Y'know, every cat is different...some like to cuddle and be held...others don't. Wally loves to be picked up and held, but he doesn't like to cuddle. But he is the friendliest cat! Ernie likes to cuddle but doesn't like to be held. Zoey...well, she doesn't like much of anything but she's coming around. No, seriously, I can pet Zoey and pick her up, but she is not a cuddler. Annie is adorable and I'm sure she will come around as she gets more and more comfortable.

  12. It must be heard to resist giving Annie tummy rubs. She is just the sweetest!

  13. Annie is precious and I know it's hard having a cat that resists affection. My Kassey will rub on me but it has to be on her terms always. I just adopted her 4 yrs ago.

  14. Annie is so pretty, and every pretty girl needs a rat. Most of my cats became snugglers as they got older. Some just don't like petting as kittens and youngsters. Their heads are full of fluff and all they want to do is play. One kitty would slink along the floor to avoid being petted. He learned to like it, but it took a couple years for him to grow up.

  17. Annie is so sweet. It's nice to know she's well and has a loving home. It's always so interesting to me to see how each cat is so different in what it likes and dislikes.

Did you know that Marshmellow wont cuddle on my lap. He loves to be brushed loves tummy rubs and to be petted. He really loves talking to me that's why there's so many pictures of him with his mouth open. If I try holding him he does not like it. Even Peanut is somewhat this way, maybe a little easier going but not much.

  20. Annie makes me think of Chestnut: hard beginnings in life, a lot of love to give but problems to give it.So , attachment to some items. That makes them even more beloved!

  21. what a sweet looking girl - she does look cuddly.

our buster is the same thing, he doesn't stay put long enough to get rubbed, he will give you tiny bites.

  30. Gosh! I am so not Annie. I just can't imagine being like Annie. Annie!! Girl!! Wake up and smell the goodness of lovin'! I could sit for hours and hours and hours and hours just having my tummy scratched. Ooooo! It feeellllsss soooo good!! Girl, you really are missing out! And by not getting your fair share of the lovin', you're letting Simba and Lucy have more than they deserve...can you REALLY allow that? Think about it and change your ways...you will thank me..seriously!! Purrs, Lautrec
