Memorial Day

"And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me." ~ Lee Greenwood

Mama and papa are going to the Memorial Day parade in our town. I hope you enjoy your day!

Happy Saturday

Last night I was duly poked, prodded, felt, squeezed and stuck.  Yes, I went to the vet and so did Simba.  I'm trying to forget the horrors by spending time on my balcony watching the birdies and squirrels.  The vet said she'll call Mama next week if there is an issue with our blood tests. She said she felt a nodule on my throat and my heart was beating fast so she wonders if I have a thyroid issue.  Simba and I have always been healthy as hogs, so Mama is hoping that all is well.  In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy this fresh air.  Enjoy your Saturday, friends!

Kool Seniors Kitty Klub

Guess what?  I'm in the Kool Seniors Kitty Klub (KSKK)!  I was born in 1996, so I definitely qualify.  Sammy, Andy and their sweet mom at Sammy and Andy's Place made this for me.  Be sure and visit them if you qualify, and they'll make you a badge as well. (Sorry. This dosn't apply to my human friends.)  I'm so glad I'm friends with them. They're awesome!

There is one problem with this senior business.  It remimded Mama that I haven't seen the vet in a year and haven't had any blood tests in two years.  I overheard her on the phone making me a vet appointment. Nooooo!

Monday Sunbeams

As much as I love the warmth of the sunshine, sometimes I get too hot.  Here I just sort of rolled out of my bed to keep a little cooler.

We Got Mail

We won a drawing that the gang at The Cats of Wildcat Woods had for Yoko's 17th Gotcha Day.  They sent us a book titled "The New Natural Cat." Mama has already started reading it and is enjoying it.  I'm expecting to be newer and more natural in the near future.

Word is we're relaxing again this weekend.  Of course, Mama has chores and errands and stuff, but I don't.
Happy Weekend!

Just Thinking

Hi. I'm just thinkin' about stuff here.  I'm thinking about my bloggie friends and good foodies and Greenies and warm sunshine. I hope you had a good weekend. It was very quiet here, just what Mama needed.  Since she has today off, she and Papa are going to go see a movie. I wish you all a happy Monday!

It's Almost the Weekend!

This has been a really stressful week for Mama at work.  She has Monday off, and I'm going to help her relax this weekend. I see movies and books and good food in our near future. I hope you all have a fun weekend!

File Your Complaint Here

On Monday I said that Mama needed to go to PetSmart because we were low on cat food. Well, a lot of you commented that she better get to the store ASAP. Did she heed that advice? I guess it depends on one's definition of ASAP.

At 8:45 p.m. (yes, in the evening, not morning), she strolled into the kitchen, looked at the cat food and nonchalantly mentioned that she should go since there was only enough left for one meal. She left the house at 8:48 and PetSmart closes at 9:00! Now, if she were almost out of her precious coffee/diet soda/cookies/etc, I know she would have left much earlier.

All is forgiven, however, because she got us Greenies.  She hasn’t been feeding us treats because of the whole waistline thing, but these are only 2 calories per treat. I’ve never had Greenies before. They are delicious! She said that I’ll only get two a night. Sigh. I’m not big on moderation.

Monday Morning

We had a good weekend. Mama and Papa went to Philadelphia on Saturday to walk around in the sunny weather. They got wind gusts later in the afternoon though. I spent a lot of time in my bed napping and hanging out.  Mama had to work for a few hours Sunday afternoon. Then she made a big pot of soup for dinner. Unfortunately, it was potato soup, which means there wasn't any meat.

The cat food supply in this house is getting dangerously low.  I'm sending Mama out to PetSmart today.

We hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Marshmallow Dreams

I love marshmallows.  Last night, Mama had some leftover mini marshamallows after making rice krispie treats, so I got two of them*.  We make a game of it.  I like to chase and hunt them.  These pictures don't show me chasing them, but I really do. I love the way they roll across the carpet.
*Editor's note: The last time Lucy had a marshmallow was probably two years ago. I just didn't want you to think her ample waistline is due to too many marshmallows.

Monday Morning

I hope you all had a good weekend!  Mama has been sick, so she didn't do much. She did get to the library for her usual stack of books and movies though.  The weather is very hot here. It's in the low 90's.  Simba and I were bakin' ourselves on the patio. We pretend we are lions, hot and tired after a hunt.

Merci Beaucoup Mon Amie

Disregard the bags in the background. Mama does not know how to properly set up a picture.

We got a package in the mail a few weeks ago from Nice France!  Our friend Malyss from Chronicles from the Shore sent us a gift for being her 10,000th visitor.  Her blog has beautiful pictures from Nice and other wonderful places, and we love Malyss' poetic prose.

We got a beautiful tea towel, sachet for Mama's underthings drawer, lavender soap, two postcards and a cute painted cicada.  The theme is lavender because of the beautiful lavender fields in Nice and Southern France.

That postcard is to just Simba and me. This is the first time we received our very own postcard.

Mama put the cicada in my catnip plant for this picture, but it's going to live on the dresser. We think it's so cute.

I now want to introduce you to her two French kitties, Jim and Chestnut.
Here's Jim. Isn't he handsome?

Here's Chestnut. Who doesn't want to tickle that silly tummy?

We just really want to thank Malyss for her thoughtful gift and her friendship to Mama.
