Bucky's Vet Appointment

Monday evening, I took Bucky to a new vet to get a second opinion.  I did not feel the present vet was giving Bucky the proper care.
Trying to stay warm. The poor unsuspecting sap had no idea he was going to the vet later.

The new vet was very nice and very thorough.  She estimates his age between 12 and 14, but for the life of me, I can't remember what she based that on except for his eyes. She said that the amount of fluids I was giving him was akin to sprinkling water on him.  He'll still be on the fluids every other day, but he'll be receving a lot more per session. He will also have potassium and B vitamins in his fluid bag.  The vet sells the fluids at a even cheaper price than what I found online. He's now on a prescription diet.
Waiting at the vet for his blood test results

His blood test results are the same (well, a shade worse actually). He has a heart murmur, but that's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself.  His blood pressure is perfect.

He's such a good boy. He puts up with the fluids and behaves so well at the vet. He's a big sweetheart, so it's really no wonder we've taken him in and spent heaps of cash on him.

  1. Aw, poor Bucky. He looks like such a sweetheart, we're glad he has you. Someone else might not take such good care with and of him.

Sending healing purrs and Light that the change in fluids and diet will improve things.

  4. I am so glad that Bucky is still doing okay. He is so lucky to be with you. It's not often that cats like Bucky get a second chance at life. It is wonderful that you have found the fluid a little cheaper. I can remember how fast the money went at 25.00 a bag.
Bucky's journey is bringing back so many memories of my Mr. Sunshine. After Mr. Sunshine would have his fluids he would become peppy and quite manly, as he would try to mate with Trinket my pekenese that I had at the time. They were both spayed and neutered it just was something that I thought so funny.

I hope the additions to the fluid will help, and with the prescription diet too.

I hope your cold is getting better. So many things going around right now.

KIsses and hugs to all. Of course Peanut sends special kisses to Lucy.

  9. Very smart to get a second opinion. Peeples tend to think that coz the shingle say "VET" that efurrything wot the vet says be the way it is. There is lots of vets out there wot is not so good and it is good to kewstshun and get anudder opinion.

Pee Ess - Bucky is looking very good and handsome coz you is taking such good care of him!

  10. Our cat is a stray that adopted us several years ago. He's about 14 now and a total bundle of love. I believe our vet mentioned his (cat) teeth in helping him decide our cat's age.
